FAA Awards B&A a Contract to develop a prototype LED driver board

Federal Administration Aviation (FAA) has given a contract to B&A Engineering Systems, for the hardware and software development of prototype LED driver board used in Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI).

The PAPI provides the pilot with a safe and accurate glide slope on final approach to the runway. A row of PAPI Light Housing Assemblies (LHA) placed perpendicular to the approach path are seen by the pilot in combinations of red and white to indicate a path that is too high, too low or correctly on slope.
